Battle Mechanics

The Battle system is based on Strikes. There are three strike zones, the head, the limbs and the torso. The head is completely off limits to any strikes. If you strike an opponent in the head the ancient protectors kill you and you are eliminated. If the opponent moves their head in the way on purpose they are eliminated. The limbs are considered a wounding strike zone. If a leg or arm is hit you cannot use that limb. If you lose both legs you are stuck in that one place. If you lose both arms your pretty much useless so try and avoid this. A glancing blow that barely grazes the clothing is not considered a strike. The torso is the killing zone. Any legitimate strike to the torso and your opponent is eliminated.
Ranged weapons and magic follow the same rules that apply to striking weapons. Arrows that strike a limb will render that limb useless. An arrow that strikes the opponent in the torso will eliminate the opponent. A shield can repel arrow attacks. Magic will be signified by a projectile that is painted a certain color and the spell will be verbalized for easy identification if you get hit by the spell. The spell must strike the torso to be effective. Limbs or weapons in the way of the torso count as a torso hit if it would have hit the torso if it had not been impeded by the limb or weapon. Shields may deflect a spell, but if the spell is one that destroys shielding you must drop your shield. Rare Hero weapons will also be able to destroy shield and armor.
Armor will have an effect equaling the level of the armor from slashing attacks. Level 1 armor will allow one strike to the area without causing lose of the limb or being killed by a torso strike. Level 2 armor will allow two strikes to the area without causing lose of limb or being killed by a torso strike. Level 3 armor will allow three strikes to the area without causing lose of limb or being killed by a torso strike. A stabbing blow cannot be protected by armor and will cause you to be killed. Only Elven armor will offer protection from spells, but can be counter acted by a shield breaking spell. Special Hero arm will guard against stabbing, magic, and slashing and will be based on the level system. Do not count on getting this armor as it is extremely rare.

There are varies types of combat situations that will be explained in later posts.
